I am in deep trouble
« on: December 04, 2009, 10:59:23 AM »
I had owned a Colt LE6090 or some combination of numbers and letters like that back in 05. It was a fine rifle but for me there was just no magic and I was plagued by FTF's and FTE's. (Had I known what I know now I could have fixed this issue very easily.). Back in June of 07' I decided I was gonna give the AR platform another try but this time it would be my own custom rifle made exactly to my specs. I pieced together a DPMS with all sorts of custom little parts. Stainless Bull barrel in the 20 inch length, chrome lined firing group, custom stock, I went all out. Even had the bolt mated to the chamber against the advice of some people who said that was nonesense. The rifle came out spectacular and shot better than half MOA at 200 meters. I couldn't have asked for a better AR. Yet still there was just something missing, that little hint of magic that just makes you fall in love with the piece. After finally getting my dream rifle last year (SA NM M1A) any fond feelings I had for the AR were gone. I simply could not afford to house two ammo dumpers and really needed the money to start saving for a house of my very own. (Renting right now).

I am lucky to have the kind of relationship I do with the gunshop owner so he offered to sell it on consignment for me. 6 months past by and even with two price drops nobody was interested. Now I know the market for the AR's has long since died but I just couldn't justify having a rifle I barely shot when the significant other was on me about the move. The killing blow came when I found out that DPMS now offered a bull 20 with mostly the same set up. Now it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that I put into mine but the fact of the matter was that they offered a new gun for about $800 and I had hoped to get $1200 for my own.

I had gone to the gunshop yesterday to pick up my rifle and explane to my fiancee that I would be unable to sell it for what it cost when luck or the lack thereof would have it that my pal had just gotten in a new S&W 327 M&P R8 . I love revolvers but have always carried a 1911 or Beretta 92 because that is what I had the most training with. I couldn't help but fondle what I thought was a revolver that could easily keep up with any modern day pistol. Randy knows I'm weak and we had discussed the fact I would probably never break even with the my rifle on an occasion or two. Now I don't know if the kind heart that inhabits the usually surely man melted that day, maybe the holidays had worked their magic on him but he grabbed up the paper work and says "I'll tell you what, your rifle for this revolver plus a box of ammo." ::)

Well what do you think happened.  :-[

I am in so much hot water I don't even know how to explane myself. I cried for a half hour after shooting my new lady like I had just spent the night with an ex. Although I will say shooting her is hard, after the first shot I kept having to move the target to the left and right just to see where I was hitting.  :-\

To make things worse she doesnt know yet, so if you guys can think of a good story I'm gonna need something.

As an added bit of wisdom from an old gun guy:

Guns and ammo go a long way in getting through those long sexless nights, weekends, months ...

Or, you can just find someone like M'ette and have the best of both worlds ... or at least that's what Marshal claims.   Damn, most of the time when he gets caught he just claims it was a present for her and gets both  ;D

Screwed M58? Methinks not. :( Hock the pistol, buy some diamond earrings. Maybe you can buy the gun back before she notices.

Tell Her the truth, You traded it for a rifle you didn't care for and could not sell even at a massive loss, so you cut your losses and got rid of the Albatross.
Then go make up the couch and enjoy your new pistol, cuz that's all the fondling you'll be doing for a while  ;D

As one who got his wife and child out of an apt not to long ago, you are done.

The only thing to do is sell the the new piece, yah right.

Or, pull out your sword and fall directly on it.

As much overtime as can be had at work is also now an option since you will have no comfort at home.

From what I know about that revolver, you got the better end of the deal.  Is that a Performance Center gun?

Remember, asking to be forgiven is easier than asking permission.....

Enjoy!

A lot of good comments and advice posted already.  Hope this doesn't cost you a marriage.  Sounds like you have a problem and need to join a 12 step program for gun addicts.

Or you could get her into shooting and loving guns also, then you can enjoy your addiction together.

Just remember happiness is a warm gun.  It may be the only thing hot you touch for awhile.
