Because it was designed for sewage, it's designed to pump more solids and therefor has the ability to pump enourmous amounts of fluids at higher head pressures.  The 2" diamter is huge for pumping water, the pump must have been pretty good size, maybe a diaphragm type?  On second thought, probably not.  Diaphragm pumps usually run on air...

My father in law in Baltimore has a basement sump that was very underrated in heavy rains. It was 120VAC and if the power went out he was a flooded basement.

I talked him into a small inverter/charger, 3000W that has a small contactor for a seamless transfer to the inverter if the power goes out. Normally closed circuit, until the power goes out, opens and transfers to the inverter, creating 120VAC for the sump.

Inverters are used all over the world with inconsistent primary power. Just some golf cart batteries, preferably 24VDC, can create a reserve capacity to run his now 3500gph sump even in a heavy rain with no primary power.

No basements here in S. Fl., but boats, and hurricanes are a great resource with no generator needed.

Sounds like your pump is plenty big.

Digital Camcorder, poofy camo house shoes (from my granddaughter) Tales of the Gun DVD set, and heart burn from grazing all day. All in all a great Christmas with all my kids and all my grandkids. Now if I can only figure out how to download all that video I shot today.

I got bills.

Somehow everyone gets "stuff" but I get the bills.

It's O.K. though, after they're paid I'm taking myself shopping.  ;D

Thanks for asking.  No, nothing damaged but it is a problem no one seems to know how to fix.  Also when power goes out during a heavy rain the problem is worse.  Have a generator for power but I have to be home to start it.  The power didn't go out, the sump pump just couldn't handle that much water this time.

sounds like you have either a leak in the foundation or poor drainage around your house ( or both)  If you can take a bunch of pics of the insdie and outside of your house, I can most likly help you address that prob.

Glad you asked.
The good news: Santa brought a .22 conversion for my Sig P220.
The bad news: It does not function as designed. Slide will not go forward into battery. Called Sig. Frame and kit have to travel to Exeter, NH, to be custom fitted. :'(

Perhaps there will be a spare mag in the return shipment.

First problem I have ever had in 15 years with a Sig.
