Another great show!  I liked Michael's segment on personal carry issues.  I look forward to more.

Really enjoyed the open hand technique performed by Michael Janich also.

Dear Ping:

Thank you for the kind words. If you're interested in learning more about the tactic shown in episode one and ways of "amping up" your training with it, here's a link to a guerilla video I did with Stay Safe Media on YouTube:

Thanks again for watching. Look forward to more empty-hand tactics this season, as well as defensive knife use and personal defense with a cane.

Stay safe,

Mike

Because the 1911 is the best defensive pistol ever made?   No, not that....   ;D

Actually, if you look back over the body of video work that I've done over the past decade, primarily since 2005, you'll see a huge variety of firearms. I do preach efficiency and simplicity in gun choice and until the XD and M&P came along, that pretty much meant Glocks when it came to reliable defensive semi-auto choices. So after a decade of primarily recommending those guns for defense, I tend to get labelled as a "Glock Guy".
That said, I have always tried to demonstrate techniques with as many different guns as possible. If you look at TBD and TBD:S over the last year, you'll see me with Glocks, Rugers, revolvers, an FN and even a 1911  :o... probably other types that I'm forgetting as well.

The trick from a TBD standpoint is to get the audience to understand that the principles and concepts are what are most important, not the gear or time that it takes me to get a hit on target. The audience has a huge variety of guns, it would be irresponsible for me to only show techniques and concepts with one type.

You'll see me with a Glock before the season is out... maybe even next week!

I gotta say, I havent been on here in months, but after watching the first episode of the new season I had to get on here and commend you guys for an excellent program.  I cant wait to catch the rest of the season.  Even my Wife is watching the home invasion stuff with interest as this has been her greatest fear since our child arrived 2 years ago.

Any chance you guys cover the use of a shotgun for home protection this season?  Being as I am not the wealthiest guy in teh world, I usually leave the house with my only handgun concealed on my person leaving her with just the 870 for protection.

We do touch on shotgun inside the home again... specifically, in the penetration demo segment that is coming up!

I would like it known that I really, really, really wanted to comment on The Pincus' use of a 1911 in the episode, but I behaved.

And you are correct. It is the most bestest gun ever made, ever, ever.  ;D

1911J, I used that Baer just to get you to comment!  ;D  (Bane was shooting off camera actually hitting the target for me, of course....).
