In 1967 I was in the Navy, stationed at Dam Neck, Va., which is close to Norfolk. I was 21 yrs. old, and wanted a revolver badly. I talked my wife into letting me buy a Single-six . A few months later I was transferred to Guam. I couldn't bear the thought of putting my new revolver in my house--hold goods, where it would have been stolen. So I did what any right thinking young man would do. I put the gun in the bottom of my Awol bag, and carried it on the plane all the way to Guam. When I reported to the quarterdeck of my ship I decided it was time to tell someone what I had with me. The Officer of the Deck exclaimed "How the hell did you get that here?! I explained, "I just carried it.
I stlll have that gun today, and of all the firearms I own, it is my favorite. I don't shoot it as much, but my grandkids keep it warmed up!
Oh, btw, I put my single-six in the armory, and a few weeks later joined the pistol team and was issued my own accurized 1911, and a S&W 41. I then had all the .45 and .22 ammo I wanted to practice with. I had all 3 guns in my Navy housing unit, and spent 2 hrs. a day on the range practicing.
Best fun I've ever had , outside of CAS.

I received my Ruger shirt today, Tried it on when I got home and the fit is perfect. There's a gunshow this weekend and I may just wear it there to show it off. Thanks again to Downrange.TV, MB, Marshal and most of all the lovely Marshal'ette for picking my name.

My Ruger story: In May of 2000, I went to the Rogers School in Georgia for their handgun course. There were eight students in the class, including the leader and several mebers of of the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office SWAT team, a Georgia cop, and two other civilians besides me. All the other students brought major-brand autopistols: their duty Glocks, Sigs, and 1911s. I was the only revolver shooter, with my much-used IDPA, house, and car gun, a 3" bbl. GP-100. The Rogers School is quite a test of shooter and weapon, requiring about 2,500 rounds fired in 4 1/2 days. All the other handguns jammed multiple times, and nearly all broke, some beyond repair there at the range. (The 1911 guy broke both of the very expensive ones he brought, and had to go home after a couple of days.) My GP-100 just kept chugging away. Seven years later now, it still serves well.

My Ruger story:

Last year I picked up a stainless 10/22 rifle as an investment.   Yep, an investment for teaching my now 5 year old son and 11 year old daughter not only the wonderful world of shooting but to teach them about our rights to keep and bear these firearms and the sacrifices made by many to protect these same rights.  I know I'm preaching to the choir here but it's firearms in general, and in this case, a Ruger 10/22 rifle specifically, that will be the tool to teach those things to my children.  I hope to start a tradition in my family.  A tradition of passing on this same Ruger rifle to future generations, and use it as a tool for introducing them to firearms and to the rights we've been given and should always appreciate and never take for granted.*

Hey yall,
I''l give you my Ruger story, and it just goes to show how well this company takes care of its customers. I baught a P-95 back in 1998. It was new in the box, and had only been fired by the Ruger staff. After cleaning and inspecting, I fired a mag through it. On the third shot of the second mag, the extractor landed at my feet, and the empty was still in the chamber. I called Ruger right there on the spot, and put me through to the quality folks in AZ. They told me how the extractor it fitted on the production line, and they talled me through the fix right there in my kitchen. I ended up with about 25,000 rounds through that gun with no extractor trouble after that. Come to think of it, I can't recall having any other trouble with that gun that wasn't the fault of my loading ability.............I should have kept that one.
