Congrats! It's so nice to see those shirts going to deserving winners. That leaves the next gun for ME!

Rugers! I love them.  I have a Super Red Hawk in 454 that is accurate AND fun.  I t will definitely put a smile on your face.  I have three Single Sixes. (two of which are three screw models.)  I have a MK!! with 6 7/8 Target barrel.  I have a 10/22.  And last but not least is my M77 Stainless in 223 Remington, BSA 6-24 Platinum scope and will shoot honest 1/2 inch groups with the right hand loads and Sierra 45 grain Varminters.  Yeah, I like those Rugers.  I'm thinking maybe a Vaquero in 45 Colt might just be next.

I have several Rugers. But this is the story of just one of them. One I have mentioned before on this forum.

About 30 years ago I was stationed in Germany as Chief of Nuclear Operations for NATO's Central Army Group. As I was going about my duties on my way to Oberammergau to make a presentation at the NATO School,  I made a stop along the way at the HQ USEUCOM, Rod and Gun Club in Stuttgart. There on a rack sat several very nice Ruger No. 1s in 7x57 caliber. One of my favorite calibers ever since I bought a my first center fire rifle -- a 7x57 Remington Rolling Block I bought through the mail from Ye Old Hunter for $9.95 while I was in junior high school. My check book flew into my hand and I bought one of those No.1s on the spot. That Ruger No. 1 has been my favorite deer rifle ever since. It helped me take a lot of deer over the years.

It never really was a tight grouper, but it shot minute of deer just fine. In 2006 I missed a deer for the first time in over 20 years.  I shot the rifle a lot over the years and had confidence in it. I went back to the range and found out the groups had gone to heck. So, I sent it back to Ruger for some help.

Ruger is a good company. For the cost of a new barrel, they jacked up the serial numbered part [the receiver] and put a new rifle under it. Now, it shoots better than ever -- close to MOA. They got it back to me in time for deer season, but I didn't see a legal deer to shoot. So, I wait impatiently for next year. But all is not lost -- I get to develop new loads for my favorite Ruger rifle all year.

I have one Ruger, It's an old Mark 1. I have used it to teach all 3 of my sons how to shoot with it. I also used it to start my new daughter in law in the shooting sports. Now she goes with us every chance she gets. I would hate to guess how many 10's of thousands of rounds have been put through it.

The VERY first gun I ever shot was a Ruger Single Six New Model.  This was back in 76 or so and I have now inherited the pistol, along with the first rifle I ever shot.  Living in western New York surrounded by corn fields one of the fields had a small patch of woods right in the middle of it.  My dad and our neighbors used to hang milk jugs full of water in the trees from ropes and swing them.  Then once everyone was back behind the firing line they would shoot at the swinging jugs.  This is how/when I learned to shoot, sounds easy and is somewhat but not as a 6 year old.  Ruger has always been a part of my life, and probably always will.

Wow, :o :o there's nothing better than finding out you've won a prize from a lovely Lady such as Marshal'Ette. I look forward to receiving my shirt and wearing it with pride. ;D ;D ;D

Thanks to MB, Marshal'ette , Marshal, Sturm Ruger and Downrange.TV for this great give away,

Man! Did AMMOACE hit home with his lost gun story. My 5-shot Smith was seized by my girlfriend, now wife, after our second range date. I don't even remember how it happened. Feminine Voodoo I suspect  ;). Anyway, it created an indisputable need to buy another handgun, which quickly happened. I bought and duty carried a Ruger Speed Six for 5 years. I found it to be a good defensive tool for many applications beyond just shooting, due to its RUGGED construction. As I don't believe in coincidence, I wonder how many of us have "lost" guns under similar circumstances?? There MAY be a pattern here. Eh, Marshal??  Mac.
