At $2.56 a round (for presumbly unloaded brass), someone's going to have to seriously piss me off before I pull the trigger. ;D Still, its no different than boats or flyfishing I guess. The second you enter the store, grab a bottle of KY because you're going to need it. :-\
FQ13 who wants pics, a range report and where you found a range after you buy this beast. I would love to find something more than a 100 yard range. Hell, we could carpool. I'll buy the gas if you buy the ammo. ;D

At $2.56 a round, someone's going to have to seriously piss me off.

500 brass = $1,279.95

500 bullets = $264.99

500 Federal 215 Magnum Primers = $16.75

Powder for 500 rounds @ 105 grains per round X 500 rounds = 52,500 grains divided by 7,000 grains per pound = 7.5 pounds. 8 pound jug of Reloader 25 = $169.95 (Approx.).

Total component cost for 500 rounds is $1,731.64 Divided by 500 = $3.46 a round. A little less if you amortize the brass cost over 3 or 4 rounds. Not much less than shooting a .50 BMG.  Bill T.

Actually, shooting a .50 BMG is cheaper with Mil-Surp ammo.

If you buy 1,000 rounds of API from .50 BMG Supply, you can get the cost down to $2.80 a round. I have 100 rounds of Summit APIT .50 BMG coming today from Natchez.  Bill T.

I wish you both the joy of your guns and wish I could play in that league, but when you start talking $2800 for ammo? The Quaker will fold and leave the table. I still want to live vicariously through range reports though. ;D

New factory ammo runs about $115 for 20 shots.  I think I could probably afford about 100 shots per year.

300 grain projectile retains twice the energy at 1 mile as a .45 ACP at the muzzle! Geeeezzzuuusss!!! That would knock the starch out of ya. Nice TW. I hope I get my American Rifleman today.

At $340.99 a box of 20, this Federal .470 Nitro Express ammunition was the most expensive I could find from Midway. It comes to $17.05 a round. I think .700 Nitro Express is even more, but I can't find anyone who carries it.   Bill T.

Discontinued but here it is.

$382.99 for a box of 5 rounds.  That works out to 76.60 per round.  Easily beats the .470!
