And it is doubtful that anything will be done about it because they are City Employees clearing streets in the middle of a huge weather event.

According to the local news here in CT, the auto owner will have to pick up the tab to repair their own truck.  The City ain't gonna cough up a dime.

I think the video might change their mind. Soveriegn immunity doesn't cover negligence and misconduct. The ower of the SUV is just going to have to give the claim to his insuror. Those guys don't like paying out and their lawyers are on salary. Get that clip in front of a jury and its game over.

Idiots...I guess 'stopping and re-evaluating' the situation never occurred to them.

Studied under David Farragut, I suppose.    :P
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

The sad part is those buffoons are probably making in the neighborhood of $35.00 an hour. More if they're on overtime which most all of them are when a major winter storm hits. This country is finished. Those idiot's would be overpaid at minimum wage! And it's such a big mystery why NYC is broke.  Bill T.

I'd have to agree.  Looking at the video the front end loader was fee at about the 1:30 mark but contiued to rock the back end around then backed up into the SUV.  If he'd pulled forward he would have been clear and minimized the damage.

More importantly, how did the loader end up between to objects anyway?  Pushing snow from the streets and piling it up in an open spot is one thing.  Putting the equipment into a spot you probably won't get it out of safely is another.
When seconds mean the difference between life and death, the police will be minutes away.

You are either SOLVING the problem, or you ARE the problem.

If there was a "Parking Ban" in effect the loader operator would have been right with in the law .

Bad situation pretty well sums it up!

Damage caused by snow removal equipment comes under some weird regulation.  I know that city, state and county plows here are not liable for hitting unattended cars when clearing the roadways.  However, this guy got himself in a situation without hitting the cars.

I put the blame for this one on the tow driver.  With all his booms, multiple winches and anchors points there was no reason, except laziness, for him to be pulling.  He could have winched this payloader out without damaging anything.

I do give the driver credit for not fighting with the witnesses and calling in a supervisor to handle this.  One thing that does need to be remembered by everyone on this is that under that snow is ice.  That payloader was helpless trying to get traction, and I would hate to try and operate it in those tight quarters.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.
