I checked and you have to pay $50 in shipping.  

I'm wondering which states it might be illegal to possess this gun?  California?  Maryland?

Plus of course, depending on your state, you may also have to fork over sales tax.    I wonder if I could convince them to treat it as a $1,000 sale and an $81,000 donation?   I mean, I"ve already mortgaged the house and both cars at this point.

Won't be legal in Massachusetts.  Only the PARA and S&W 1911 (some, not all) are approved in MA as well as the Rock Island and an Auto Ord model......

If I could aford the 82 grand I'd just take a couple days off work and pick it up.

Maybe the best thing would be for a MA resident to have the winning bid.  They can write their check, and donate the gun back so bidders 2,3 and 4 can have another opportunity to play the game as they donate.  The wealthy love playing these games with their friends!  Everyone should attend a fund raising auction to watch the fun some of these people get out of playing this game.  It is like watching us throw $10's and $20's at pulltabs, but with way more zeros.

It will be interesting to hear who wins.  It is even money that it is a foundation or group of people pooling funds to give to the organization.

That's a big "negatory" there Cookie.  A resident of one state, can't take possession of a handgun in another state (some limited exceptions, I think, which don't apply here).   Must be shipped to an FFL in  your state of residence.

Still out the $50, plus the charge by your FFL.   

Of course, to get your FULL VALUE out of the deal you'll need to take several days off for the photo-op and the luncheon, where you can droll over it.
