I'd like to see exactly what was said.

Before I pass judgment on this.

he could have very well steped over the line where free speach ends and other stuff starts...

yelling fire in a theater  for example.

then again it could have been a over reaction from the goverment.

the odds are 50/50

I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

I agree But I don't have a problem sending someone to see if he was off his meds.

I'm mixed on that.

I think wellness checks are both good and bad.  I've seen them go both ways.

Here is a man that has just learned a valuable lesson:  Electronic media is public, and posting on electronic media is a public statement.  Don't say stupid stuff in public unless you are willing to be held accountable for it because you will!  People in many industries and levels of management or line work have lost their jobs over this type of thing.

Why would they take his guns while investigating - Ask the Cat  ;)  Standard procedure.  Law enforcement has the power to remove weapons from those they are dealing with.  In a case like this it is an on going investigation.  Given the stand of most on here concerning "Enforce the current laws before enacting more" what would we say if they left the guns in his possession, and he went Tuscon on us?

Big Brother, Old Biddy busy body, town gossip, who knows what spurred the investigation, but the guy was stupid, and he got caught.  Is there good in this?  Hopefully more people will realize that "You can't shout fire in a crowded theater."

I've posted some pretty inflammatory stuff over the years, but I usually lay out my reasoning, and legal or historic precedent to support my thinking.
Mass, like NY, is a political cesspool and always has been, that's why the revolution started there. Not because the colonists were any more "Patriotic" than else where, but because they were the ones most crapped on and the first ones to be subjected to arms seizures.
Like TAB, I would want more information before coming to a conclusion. For example, how this post fits in context with his previous blogs. In light of the Tucson shooting I am of 2 opinions, if he was a nut case case then it's good that he has been rendered potentially, less dangerous. On the other hand, the "Kill Bush" crowds sudden condemnation of "Violent Political rhetoric" leaves me very suspicious.

FQ13,

I wish they had left up the website but Live Journal appears to have taken away his soap box.

While I dislike doeing it I'll paraphrase what I saw.

Death to Tyrants
She voted for Obamacare
Obamacare is Tyranny
Death to tyrants

Anyone who voted for Obamacare is a tyrant
Freeman should kill tyrants

Any law I do not like is tyranny.
All government is tyranny.
Death to tyrants. When you shoot them don't hit other folks.

Anyone who disagrees with me is a stupid lapdog or a tool of tyrants.

Call the police you tyrants there is nothing they can do to me.
If you want a piece of me here I am.

If it was suppose to be some Andy Kaufman like skit the punchline never showed up.

Kind of blew that one though, didn't he ?  ;D

Quote
In his blog Corcoran writes, “It is absolutely, absolutely unacceptable to shoot indiscriminately. Target only politicians and their staff and leave regular citizens alone.”

Taking into account his headline the above sentences are a signal of a very credible threat in my opinion.  Hopefully he will be cleared, but he pushed his freedom of speech when he obviously was not ready to back it up.

I heard of it on the radio the other day before it went national.  From what I heard, which was a "quote" from the blog, was pretty inflammatory in nature and considering he said it in direct response to the shooting, I'd say he overstepped...

I'm no 1st Amendment scholar but I've toned down my own rhetoric.  I prefer to stay somewhat anonymous and I live in an area that's in the middle of the battlefield in spite of the major firearms manufacturing presence in Connecticut.

unless that was taken way out of context.  That would throw up red flags for me if I was in charge of security for some one.

I don't know what else was said or if things were said before.   At the very least a comment like that would make me do some digging.

out of context is such a dangerous thing these days.

Don't know if it was or wasn't, but shouldn't matter for 2A rights.
"Why are you carrying a pistol?  Expecting trouble?"

"No Maam.  If I was expecting trouble, I'd have a rifle."
