Funny side note. Last weekend I took my cert course for Swiftwater rescue. Unfortunately one of our guys way injured when he clipped a rock and split his knee open performing a rescue.

Picture, if you will, 12 students completely focused on the task of saving lives, and not a first aid kit in the group. They all got left at our vehicles nearly a mile downriver.  ::)

(for the record I now keep mine in an otter box in my PFD pocket)

32, So far I have completed high line rescue, swiftwater rescue, and wilderness first responder. I spend most of my free time climbing, and kayaking. I figured it would be worthwhile to know how to effect self rescue. This last training was the first one to have any kind of severe injury. (nice cut and a bruised kneecap) So I really haven't been phased by it. Also, I accept the fact that my recreation choices are inherently dangerous. I have seen people die doing the same things I have done. But I keep the attitude that the biggest rewards in life also come with the greatest risks. So I accept that and keep on going.

All good things to know in your neck of the woods!  I was scheduled last year to refresh my Red Cross stuff for first aid and such but moved before I did so.  Need to get back to it.  I don't spend as much time as I'd like to in the country but it never hurts to keep abreast of the training.

Rule number one for dating, don't ever explain the difference between inches and centimeters.  ;)

I've been married for 27 years and I get a blank stare when I mention mathematics....no need to explain!
