This story actually made the local paper up here in Orgeon.  Listening to the exchange on the video it really makes a normal citizen question how much fueding goes on between departments.  Don't get me wrong the idiot deserved what he got but I think the level of professionalism wasn't were it should be-was it really necessary to pull him out at gun point?

120 on the highway with no lights and siren has to raise the question "Is this a real cop being stupid or some a hole that stole a cruiser ?"

Not saying the Trooper isn't going to catch a little heat but think about the situaltion a little bit:
Unknown vehicle going 120, not responding to directions to pull over
Is the driver really a cop or a joy riding pot-head?
Can't raise the other car on the radio.
Once the cars are stopped she couldn't see that he was in uniform until she got much closer, close enough to get blasted by said pot-head.  Even then she's now faced with somebody she can reasonably believe IS armed but may not be in their right mind.
I'd have a weapon out too.

Notice the pistol was holstered as soon as the other officer started to comply.
When seconds mean the difference between life and death, the police will be minutes away.

You are either SOLVING the problem, or you ARE the problem.

Good point, it had crossed my mind that it could have been a stolen cop car from her perspective but how often does that happen?  If a BA stole a cop car it would only make sense to go flying down the interstate at 120mph.  ;D

It happens more than you think.  Usually its a couple kids out for a quick run around the block and then dumped.  Some are REALLY bad mofos that kill the officer to steal it.

I know that it has happened at least once up here, Cop went in the house to talk to some one, since it was winter, and a very short visit, he left his car running , when he came out it was a couple miles away.
I thought it was funny when I read it, but the guy got a couple years.

Don't know about cop cars but in one of the towns around Boston a few years ago, a dude was walking to the liquor store in a blizzard.  He ran across a running city plow, hopped in and plowed himself to the packy.  They arrested him on his way out of the store with a case of beer and a bottle or two.  He was gonna pull a u-turn and plow his way back home!

When opportunity knocks, sometimes ya gotta answer...

Years ago the drivers for Brink's used to leave their truck running and the door open when they took money into the banks in Rochester NH.
That ended badly and they never caught the person.

Precisely the reason I always carried a key to the door of the squad car with me.  Leave it running, but lock it.  And anytime the car was outside my physical control it was locked.  I had this paranoia about getting killed with my own shotgun or carbine,.
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!
