I'd be worried about the follower binding where it necks down.
+10 to the Blackout, 5.56 casing, 308 bullet, only change is the barrel itself .
Whats not to love ?  ;D

Read the info on it and they say they have a "nested follower" that handles that concern.

Surefire makes good products. For what they're charging for that thing, it should run like a Rolex!

They will (already have) sold them as fast as they can make them.

With the talk of the SAW going to 556, SF saw an opportunity to make a much more usable mag for the guys in the sandbox.

It fits the mag pouches they already have, cut the reload downtime in half, and (supposedly) run as well as a standard mag.

If you're talking the M249 Squad Auto Weapon, it's always been 5.56 Nato...

Read some comments about why these would not be good for non-special weapons troops.

Only two  made sense to me.

One was that the 100 rnd mag could not be used well prone because of length.

Another was that it would limit ammo sharing if your last 60 rounds was loaded, you had no mag to toss your buddy.

The rest seemed to be a matter of training....

Like one mentioned that if you did a tactical reload, you might  be dropping 40 rounds instead of 10....sigh..I guess it is harder to keep count to 60...

And another was something about will all those round on board, over heating the barrel would be easier....

It can already be a problem with the 30 round mag.

Yep. In basic training they gave us 20 round mags when we went to the range.
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. It can already be a problem with the 30 round mag.

This is the whole thing with these big magazines. When I shoot AR's at the range I generally go with 20 round P-Mags because of the length, and also the fact I never shoot more than 10 shot strings. I don't like getting my barrel and other components that hot. A 10 shot, slow fire string will still allow me to keep my hand on the barrel after without burning it.

I know this doesn't matter to a lot of guys, but running a barrel smoking hot is the fastest way to shorten it's life, and destroy it's accuracy. In that regard these 60 and 100 round magazines are self defeating. I can possibly see them in combat supporting a full auto weapon, or to "just have one". But it isn't something I'd run on my weapons everyday at the range.
