Yet Another Hussein "Green" Failure
« on: November 26, 2011, 06:37:28 AM »
http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2011/11/25/new-post-accident-chevy-volt-engine-fires-prompt-investigation/?test=latestnews?test=faces

When is this idiot going to realize you cannot legislate technology? $40,000.00 for an electric car that has a range of only 100 miles, and catches fire. His list of "green" failures just keeps on growing. If it isn't $50.00 a crack "green" LED light bulbs, it's loans to solar panel companies that couldn't stay in business 5 minutes, or leaving oil in the ground because it might upset the Caribou population. I hope we can last another 14 months before this clown is gone!

All this technology is very cool and useful, in its place.   But it is being forced on us, and our money is being squandered to push it along in places where it's not really ready, or appropriate.

The line from Jurassic Park that says just because we can do it doesn't mean we should, is, I think, applicable here.

The markets should drive and determine the appropriate applications, not some bureaucrat.

I look at this kind of stuff this way. If the oil multi billionaire T. Boone Pickens couldn't make wind power fly in any type of profitable venture, how the hell is the government? None of this stuff is ready to be profitable in prime time yet. If it was companies would be making a fortune off of it, not going broke with taxpayer funded loans trying to push it along with some far fetched idea that it will save the environment while destroying the economy.

That, kind sir, is Odamna's sole purpose.
“I’ve lived the literal meaning of the ‘land of the free’ and ‘home of the brave.’ It’s not corny for me. I feel it in my heart. I feel it in my chest. Even at a ball game, when someone talks during the anthem or doesn’t take off his hat, it pisses me off. I’m not one to be quiet about it, either.”  Chris Kyle

In general I agree with Bill.
I will however  (surprise  ;D  ) pick some minor nits.
1st, judging by my flashlights the LED bulbs actually are better than incandescent, or them damn CFL's.
I will grant that the price of the bulbs would seem to offset any potential saving on the electric bill.
2nd, I have often argued that while Solar, and wind power may not be ready to replace coal, oil, and Nuclear as the commercial source of power, where it comes into its own are in cutting the need for imported oil, and even more importantly decentralizing the electric grid.
Neither of those observations changes the fact that BO is not only a crook, funneling funds to his cronies, he is an idiot about the methods he chooses.
As a side note I will point out that research into Electric cars is a waste of time and money.
This is not opinion, it is a historically verifiable fact.
One needs only look at the history of the Automobile to see the proof.
When auto makers began making the first cars they were nothing but expensive, unreliable, status symbols for the wealthy that were only of interest to a small market.
It was not until the development of the truck that they began to take off having achieved a level of utility that made them practical to more than an elite few.
In the same way electric vehicles will not be a practical investment until they achieve the power levels and endurance to make them practical for light and heavy commercial use.

That and lining the pockets of his campaign contributors with taxpayer dollars.

Thing is, he's scamming them as well.
He is lining their pockets with dollars that no longer have any real value.
The real, meaningful payoffs are the power he is transferring to groups like public sector unions and the UN.

do you know what green really is???

lots of cash in the right peoples pockets.  its also bs.  Being in the industry, most people have no clue what green actually is.

A complete waste of money. One only has to look to the fact Hussein supports it, to know it's worthless.
