I'm still waiting for, and at my age it may never happen, for the candidate that looks at the Constitution and the situation the nation is in rather than polls.
I'm waiting for the candidate that will look the career welfare recipients, the occupy wall street and the free health care for all crowds in the eye and tell them to get off their ass, get a job, and give to those in need.
I am waiting for the candidate that will remind us all that personal responsibility starts with the person and not the government. And this is why I agree with Rastus in his stance on Newt. Repeat offenders have had their second chance and shown their character flaws are more than a simple mistake.
I will continue to be a voter that votes based on stance and not about electability. Remember, I voted for Gov. Ventura on a principle, and the entire state of Minnesota was shocked when he won.
Well put.
I have stated on several occasions and I have long maintained that we will never again see the candidate that America NEEDS to run for PoTUS.......... Simply because the man (or woman) that we need to be smart enough, moral enough, and agenda-less, won't run BECAUSE they are smart enough to stay away from the media prying and mudslinging.......in effect, smart enough to walk away.
We are stuck with people who want the position for all the wrong reasons.
We no longer have statesmen.
I agree that Newt has the intelligence level from a certain perspective, but I don't know if America can overcome the 'baggage'. I don't agree with many things he has done in his personal life, but if I thought for one minute that he had the sense to do the job of PoTUS with the best interest of the nation at heart, I might vote for him, despite the aforementioned personal misgivings.
This ain't gonna be easy, folks.
