Ruger to announce new firearm
« on: March 28, 2012, 05:41:14 AM »
Got this from The Shooting Wire:
Ruger Will Announce New Firearm This Morning

Later this morning, Ruger will announce a new firearm to the marketplace. We've shot the new gun-extensively-and have a review prepared for wire readers. Due to the release timing of today's announcement, it does not appear in this morning's editions. We will have the product review and information in tomorrow's editions.

Any idea what it will be? Seems strange to announce a new gun, when they have suspended orders!

Yeah and only 2 months after SHOT to introduce another product.   It seems that by introducing a new firearm every other month keeps them in the news and generates a lot of buzz about them.    Could be a strategy that's working too well.

I won't hold my breath as the last one wasn't exactly a barn burner.

As a Ruger stock owner I believe it only fair you send me a free sample.  ;D

:D    Good luck with that one.   I own some BB&T stock and they've yet to send me samples.

about an hour ago I posted up that it is a take-down 10/22...  The presser is buried on the site.

I saw the article on the Takedown on the home page.  If that is the idea of a "new" gun I call foul.  It is a great idea, but it is nothing more than a variant on the 10/22 platform.  A great addition, but not a new gun.

Oh well, media hype and marketing rules.  Sad to see it happen in a company where William Ruger Sr. once said We don't need focus groups.  We are gun people, and if we don't know what gun people want we are in the wrong business.

I agree with m58.  Not too exciting IMHO.  I sure do miss Bill Ruger!

They introduced a new platform a week after they gave notice of a hold on new orders due to overwhelming demand in the first quarter. Does this mean we won't actually see this new product anytime soon? If so, then what was the point?
