Tom.. thank you, I'd heard the term but never really looked into it... I've been shooting the USPSA practical pistol and 3 gun for a long time, and even with increasing age, still like to play....the Chevy Truck STC was an optics event, and I shoot TacOptics for 3 gun...my vision wouldn't allow me to use a peep sight very proficiently...the shooting on the move will be hard to give up someday...

Tyler... if you are going to mount something like a Williams peep combo on the receiver, look to a good Weaver style base, mount the rail frist, then mount the sight to the rail...a globe front sight will allow you to hold elevation as the Sun light changes throughout the year

my CMMG dedicated .22lr barrel upper shoots with my 10/22 out to 50y, and allows me to use my AR lower with a good trigger, with the same weight format...we have a local club that is beginning to shoot a 2 gun (pistol rifle) format on small steel, and is a lot of fun... there are other conversion units out there, but go with a dedicated barrel with 1/16 or so twist and barrel diameter for .22lr and not 5.56...

Tyler... spent 5 years turning a $125 10/22 into a $750 10/22...just say the word ... not that sure of the Appleseed format, but I always like to help others spend money... it's good for the economy

Yeah that is what I am afraid of.

A never ending money pit of a project. :o

Don't let it put you off.
The $125, ($250+ today ) works, the $750 ( $1500  :-[  ) just works better, and has the particular bells and tweeks that separate "a gun" from "my gun".

Remington makes several versions of the 597 including "tactical" rifles but I'm still a 10/22 fan. http://www.remington.com/product-families/firearms/rimfire-families/autoloading-model-597.aspx

Marlin 795

People on here seem to say good things about both.
Never heard of or seen either one around here.
Being 20 miles from the Ruger factory might enter into it.  ;D

I've got the reloading components for .223, and the press,  i might as well go with what I've already sunk money into.

Here's a new M1 clone that shows promise. There's also a review of it in the latest issue of SWAT magazine.

Ah, you love it and you know it.   :D

I like buying guns over reloading?  Yep, I sure do.

Primers are about 3 cents each.

A whole round of .22LR costs about the same.

I also get to skip out on all the reloading BS, like trimming brass... Or swaging primer pockets.
