DARN! I gotta come down on the side of...BOTH of them!

PS: Maybe we should give away some tactical shotguns on DRTV...

Now that's a good idea for a giveaway!!!

YEP!  and with his new show (Armed Citizen?) to show us how to best use a normal SC for home defense it would be VERY cool!

TREX,

Yep I would say 'toss up' so put them in your hands and check how YOU like the feel and controls (safety, release, etc) then pick the one YOU like.

I have a Remington Model 1100 (Sportsman 12 Auto, actually) with a pistol grip stock and 18-1/2 inch barrel. I can, and have, fired 7 shots one-handed with it. If one hand is disabled a pump doesn't do you much good, unless your name is Sarah Conner.

A lot of police agencies use the 870, ditto for the services. I use the 870 at work and I also have one at home because I'm familiar with it and trust it. Either one would work and they both are fun to shoot.
WARNING!! You can spend more on aftermarket goodies then you spent on your shotgun ;)

I think the idea of a tactical shotgun giveaway would be great ;D

Just a thought, not a slam on either shot gun or manufacturer, but it might be a good idea to get a shotgun that operates the same as your primary rifle (The one(s) you shoot the most). I'm generaly a semi Auto rifle shooter, I don't know how many times at the range I have tried a second shot with a friends rifle and had nothing happen as I forgot to work the bolt   :o It's funny, and leads to razzing at the range, but in a life or death situation at 0 dark thirty that sort of confusion can get you killed. As I said, just a thought.

Either gun is a good deal. My 3" 870 with external ammo carriers holds 18 rounds. #1 Buck in the country and #9 spurshot for town. With small shot the load is much safer to neighbors but will spread shot from mouth to lower intestines in baddies if aimed at sternun from 20 feet.I call it Chain-saw in a can.
Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorius triumphs, even though checkered by failure than to rank with those poor spirits who neither suffer much or enjoy much, cause they live in the gray twi-light that knows neither victory or defeat.
