Ruger SR9 recall - it begins.
« on: June 20, 2008, 03:14:33 PM »
Saw this on the Ruger web site:

6/19/08 Update – The redesign has been finalized and the first new parts are arriving. The first wave of shipping boxes has been sent to customers and we are receiving pistols for retrofit daily. We are ramping up our retrofit operation and plan to be retrofitting SR9 pistols at a rate of 1,000 per week by July 1st. Please remember that the pistols will be retrofitted on a first-come, first-served basis, so there may be a delay in receiving your shipping box, depending upon when you registered for the recall. Thank you for your patience.

Finally, light at the end of the tunnel.  Now where's my damn box?!?

I'm going to wait awhile before I look at one to see if the retrofit is working.  I hope it does for the sake of those who bought one but I ain't takin bets!!!!!

What do you mean if the retro fit is working?

We aren't talking about a no fire or pull issue here.

What's an SR9? Are you talking about that paperweight I keep in my safe? They're going to put a trigger in it?
I thought it was just a paperweight.

I'm talking "drop test" type retrofit works.  I'm sure the original was tested at the factory and it worked there but in actual use it didn't.  I hope this one works at the factory and in actual use so that another recall isn't necessary.

Something somewhat south of a gritty 10 pounds, I hope.  I really do like the thing and would like to buy another for my 18 year old....it's what he likes.  But they've got to get the trigger right.

Has he looked at any others?

The SR9 would be higher on the list, but that pesky recall dropped it down.

Just curious.
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
