I was estatic when I heard the news of Biden being the VP pick. There are so many good sound bites of him bashing Obama as being an empty suit, how he is dead wrong on Iraq, and how he would be honored to be McCain's VP.

See: http://www.downrange.tv/forum/index.php?topic=3110.0

I think this is great for the Republicans. Not only has Biden been caught making racist and bigoted statements in the past, but he has been caught saying them about Obama himself - anyone else remember the whole "He's the first mainstream black candidate who is clean and articulate... Its a storybook."?

As mentioned earlier, the "Change" slogan can be thrown out the window. Biden is a career politician who has literally been in the senate longer then I have been alive (I'm 29). Obama is proving that he is a lock-step democrat who is only saying what he needs to say to get elected.

In addition, Biden brings nothing to the ticket. He will not help him win any new votes, and will certainly not help him win any swing states. He is a loose cannon, and there is a very high likelyhood that he will slip up and say atleast one stupid thing b/t now and election time that the campaign will have to clean up. I think this was a very bad move for Obama. One that shows his lack of judgement and inexperience.

I'm seriously beginning to wonder if Obama will actually become the nominee. With all these seemingly stupid maneuvers, he's becoming more and more unelectable.  I'm getting a bad feeling this is a set up for another candidate to get the nod at the convention.

Is some 'brave'* soul in Denver going to stand and ask for Hillary instead? Great theater to be had there, wouldn't put it past them.

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

Either way it's a losing ticket, the hardcore supporters of one will work against the other, forget party unity  ;D And any third choice will be hated by both camps  ;D

I heard a couple weeks ago that their plan to restore party unity was putting Hillary's name on the nomination list.  They don't expect her to get the delegates, but they didn't want to take anything away from her supporters.

Apparently Mr. Obama isn't the only one in that party that can't go to the can without checking the polls first.

What if . . . .

It's all a ploy for Hitlery to steal the convention? Think about it - would you put it past her and BJ to have been rigging this behind the scenes?

John McCain could blow the whole thing out of the water now by choosing a woman or a black person for VP.
Hey....Marshallette for VP! McCain's not going to last a whole term anyway!

If not M'ette, how about Colin Powell?
That would get'em going. Many say he would have been a good choice. I don't know, though. Anyway, he's too smart to get involved in this mess.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Condoleeza Rice's name was thrown out there as well, and I think she would shake the Dems to the core if she was VP'd, but she too is probably too smart for this also.
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
