I mentioned this on another forum. My wife has been wanting a freezer for some time now. We finally decided to get one, But they are selling out fast! Lowe's and Home Depot had very few left. And none like we wanted. So we waited, and had an E-Mail notification set up to notify us when the one we wanted came back in stock, (Frigidaire 13 cu. ft. upright). A few days later Home Depot sent me an E-Mail early in the morning, that they received 407 of them at their distribution center, so I immediately ordered one. They were all sold out by the end of the day!
Last week they delivered it. Now with a fridge / freezer, along with an additional separate freezer, we thought it was time to buy a generator, just in case the power goes out. I saw a nice Westinghouse 9500 watt model with remote electric start, and dual fuel, (Gasoline / Propane), and a lot of other nice features. But the same deal. Out of stock. So I put in for another E-Mail notification. About 3 days later I got a, "in stock notice" from Home Depot. It showed 111 in stock. So I right away bought one. Immediately after I completed the purchase, I checked and sure enough it dropped to 110 in stock. Immediately after I bought one.
I checked again 3 hours later, and all 110 were gone, and it was again showing out of stock! 111 generators sold in just 3 hours. And that was just one model. They carry dozens. I got a shipping notice today, and they'll be delivering it on or before the 9th. Between guns, ammo, and now generators and freezers, all selling like hotcakes, everyone thinks the apocalypse is coming. I've even read there is a "shortage" of bicycles! Go figure.
