Alf I was going to put a like on your last post but there's a lot not to like....like the co$t$ and driving.

So I'll just say I like your attitude on #10.

Go get 'em.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

TO DO:

  • Buy P365   < ---- traded in Shield
  • Buy extra mags
  • Register for slot/squad  <----- squad 32 Friday
  • Break gun return to SIG  <---- bad sear, returned 4/23
  • Procure ammo  <----  500rds of AE Syntech let over from LoCap
  • Practice   <-- 609 Total
  • Make travel plans   <---going solo, airline booked, hotel booked
  • Go
  • Shoot
  • Collect awards  ;)

Gun still working good after I got it back.  Will start using it in club IDPA matches each week.   Sig says they'll have 200rds set aside for purchase for each competitor but I'm not sure I want Sig ammo.   I really love the Syntech for competition.   Of course using Sig ammo at the match saves on shipping and shows I'm a real Sig Fan Boy.

After the 3 day trip to Talladega, an hour and 45min over, 2:15 back, Miss Kitty has decided not to suffer 4 long days of driving for a 1 day match.    We've got nothing in particular we want to do around that area.  We've toured Maine.  We might want to do the Boston-Patriot tour stuff, but that would be a separate gun-less trip.

I'm on my own for 4 days.  My  favorite hotel chain is booked, so I'm going with a Sig Corporate rate one.   The real problem is rental cars.  $200/day right now!!!   I checked Lyft and the cost of Portland airport to Sig Academy is $90+ !!!!    I'm hoping that both costs will come down in the next 8 weeks.

Majer is talking out his ass.
That's what happens when you listen to out of staters.  ;D
Did you try to fly into Manchester or Pease jet port ?
Would have put you a hell of a lot closer and none of the hassles of Portland.
There is also train service out of Portland.
It goes to Dover, but no closer to where you want to go.

Flying to Manchester would have cost more and there weren't any  direct flights (of course that changes daily) when I looked.  Not sure what "hassles" there are at Portland.  Been in and out of there several times.  Pleasant place, I found it.

I'll have most of the day Wednesday to get from Portland to Exeter, so I've got time.  Now my sister lives just west of Portland, so I could maybe stop in and visit.  Maybe borrow a car?  I'll explore various transportation options as we get closer.  I'm really hoping rental cars prices  will drop precipitously by then.

Hassles ?
40+ miles of Seacoast traffic.
From the WRONG side of Portsmouth.   ;D
Manchester is worth the extra, since it would put you right where you want to be.
Manchester airport is about 15 miles  maybe 20, from where you're going.
Pease Tradeport might be a bit further but incoming planes also pass over where you're going.
Your only worse choice would have been Logan.   ;D  ;D

I use to come/go through Logan back in the 80's.  That was when the only way in or out was though that 5 way interchange with no traffic signal.   No thank you.

I'll trade 40miles of I-95 for an extra 2-4 hours of airports anytime.

My point is that for less than the cost of your Uber you could have landed darn near on top of your destination.
Ask BAC.

Tom,I was speaking from my personal experience, If there are things to do there please elaborate,I'm always willing to learn.

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars!!!

Oh how do I hate airports, let me count the ways:

  • There are no direct flights from ATL to Manchester which add hours to the trip
  • The cost is generally more to fly to Manchester than to Portland
  • The difference is a mere 34 miles to the hotel
  • That's over HALF the distance around ATL on I285 (ask Pascal Perez)
  • I have family in Gorham, ME
  • I would like to enjoy the local cuisine and sights as much as possible, thinking late lunch in Kennebunk
  • Sometimes it's more about the trip than just seeing how fast you can get to the destination
  • I've been to Portland PWM and enjoyed my experience.
  • )Gun wise I have an aversion to anything labeled Boston for traveling.  Mental problem I know.
  • I don't have to actually stay in Exeter/Epping Wednesday night.   I might want to stay on the coast. or with family
  • Prices on rentals/Uber are already starting to come down

Just spent the weekend near Kennebunk and Kennebunkport.  Traffic was normal, the port is always busy.  Dining wasn’t a problem for inside or just a quick, overpriced lobsta roll!  Parking always sucks but there is a lot in town for 2-3 bucks an hour or a small lot past the center for 3 bucks an hour on the honor system.

The Maine Diner has declined to somewhere I wouldn’t bother with.  I say this sadly cuz I’ve been eating there for 35 years...no more.

Traffic into NH was pretty light this am going home, not bad at all for 8 am traffic.
