Vista Outdoor Back Ordered to the tune of $1 Billion.

Vista Outdoor, owner of the Federal, CCI, Speer, and Remington brands of ammunition, announced that they have back orders that extend over a year, and amount to over a billion dollars of orders at wholesale cost.

I didn't read it yet but saw the headline.

I knew I wasn't imaging this.

I am not shocked.   When can had freedom week they bought the country  out of mags.  That is only a small % of the population.  Now it is about 50% of the population is buying guns/ ammo.

I have not bought any ammo in a long time, but did buy a couple of used guns
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

Federal includes not just all the Federal brands for ammo, but their primers and the Alliant brand of powder.  (Think Bullseye, Unique, Power Pistol, etc.)

CCI includes the Blazer brand.

Remington could be a black hole.  Their primer production wasn't doing to well to begin with, then the Flu and the bankruptcy.  In order to keep the Remington ammo brand alive Vista might have to utilize Federal and CCI primers.

All told, buy when you can, hoard what you can.  It's going to be a long dry 2021.

Good article.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

"In the U.S., only four companies (Winchester, Remington, Federal, and CCI) manufacture primers for civilian use, law enforcement, and the military."

Worldwide there are also these 3...

https://ammoterra.com/primers-manufacturer-makers

Plus Fiocchi, along with Wolf in Russia also manufacturers them. Graf & Sons, Widener's, and Powder Valley all sell them. And I know Cheddite makes shotgun primers for reloaders. A lot of trapshooters use them.

Fiocchi has been making primers and ammo 40 years longer than Federal.

Have never been able to find any Fiocchi primers for sale locally.  And of course right now, nada anyway.

I was really referring to the  Wolf and Eastern European stuff.  Not buying their ammo, not buying their primers.

BTB, on the subject of Fiocchi, had 3 squibs in 1,000rd box.  I let them know.  They were most apologetic and want to replace the whole lot.
