I quit a forum after being censored for questioning a position of one of their icons.

I've had much the same happen to me. I simply took an opposing, non derogatory viewpoint of a certain manufacturer of AR-15 rifles, and the response was to the tune of "How Dare I!" I was courteous in all of my remarks, and disrespected no one, but no matter. I was treated like a Branch Davidian who opposed the book of Revelation. I think what happens on a lot of these forums, (most certainly not this one),  is attitude takes over common sense.

I think the biggest problem in forums that operate in that regard is they wind up driving off all of the really knowledgeable posters, and more or less end up with a mutual admiration society that becomes all but worthless except for stroking their own egos.  Bill T.

I spend a lot time on this and one other gun related forum at all hours of the day and night (sometimes) because I have been recovering from minor medical problems and have had trouble sleeping normal hours during recovery.

Early on, I had trouble asking a question on the other forum.  Pulled the question and the individuals giving me the trouble apologized.  Haven't heard much from them...don't even know if they are still around.  Moderators are a bit stuffy and will pull a post or portion thereof rather than ask to have it modified.  I think this is a bit much but.....that's just me.  The young guys over there don't seem to respect age and experience and are of single purpose.  Their claims are a bit much sometimes - like one guy picking up 25K Fed. sp primers for $25/k a week or so ago and another picking up a pallet of primers before that!!!!!

I can say just about whatever I want here, and usually do!  Best bunch of people I will probably never get the chance to meet ftf, much to my dismay.  Will do just about anything for any of us (and probably already have)!

I could go on but you get the idea (I hope).

Like Tom Bogan said, this one forum has it all.....it's the variety of experiences, tied together by mutual likes that makes DRTV different than many other forums. You can go from talking about what the best fight-stopping round is one minute, and what the best BBQ recipe is in the next.
Respectful and respectable folks with a wide range of knowledge, from worldly to spiritual and anywhere in between. It's all pretty much covered here.

What's not to like?

Why not stay once you get here?  ;)

I have really grown fond of these forums. I have been on the other gun related forums and no matter what you say someone will have to point out that your post count is low. I don't mind people that I know giving me sh!t about stuff, but I take a bit more insult to it if it comes from some one I have no clue is and because sarcasm doesn't come across well on the Internet. Plus like was pointed out before, it's great to have the creators and moderators of the forum actually respond to a question or just plain join in on the fun.

On a completely off topic and totally unrelated note, I have tried many bloody mary recipes and have never really found one I like. I drink more then any human really should so I would like to be able to find a version of the bloody mary that I would enjoy. Anyone got a kick ass version of one? Lord knows I need more vegetables in my diet no matter what form the come in. An I don't waste anything so if you offer one up that sucks, IMHO, I will still drink it. Which means more vegetables for me and would be doing me a great favor. Maybe by the 12th one they will all taste great.  ;D ;D

I tended bar for several years after my enlistment.  The basics don't change much, just adjust the ingredients to your taste..

2/3 cup top-quality tomato juice (I always liked V8 juice)
2 to 3 ounces top-shelf vodka, depending on strength
1 teaspoon horseradish (I like it hot)
6 shakes tobasco sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
Juice of 1/2 large lime
1/8 teaspoon sea salt (can substitute, try seasoned salt)
1/8 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper
Celery stalk

Mix it seperate from the ice so you don't dilute the drink and pour over ice to serve...enjoy!!! ;)

It is a marinade.....it is designed to tenderize the toughest of dates!

It can do double duty as a healthy breakfast as well.  Make sure the date is pretty before you start the tenderizing so's not to scare yourself at breakfast!

 ;D did I notice a corner somewhere?

I've never tried one with horseradish in it. I love spicy stuff. And I swore there was Worcestershire in the mix somewhere but sometimes I forget.
Definitely going to have to try that one. And if it doesn't work out for me, it really does sound like it would make a great marinade.  ;D
If you don't mind, add that to the thread I just started.

Want to try something different? Put pickled Okra in it, with a splash of Clam juice and lime. No celery. Or a dash of Old Bay Seasoning.

I love a Bloody Mary, don;t get me started on a Slimey Slider version....(It has to be oyster season).... ::)
