Holster Q for Mr. Bane, Mr. Pincus and Mr. Janich.
« on: July 03, 2009, 11:40:56 AM »
Hello Sirs. First, I wanna say I really enjoy watching all the shows...Cowboys, Shooting Gallery and especially Best Defense. I recently got a Glock G19 for concealed carry and have began my search for a IWB holster. There are so many different ones, that it's getting overwhelming. A few of the manufacturers I've been looking at are Blade-tech, Galco, Milt Sparks, Sidearmor, Comp-Tac... I've been comtemplating kydex since it can get quite humid where I live, but leather would be fine by me too. However, if possible, I would want to go much beyond $100 in price. So, I was wondering if you gentleman could give me your suggestions...Specific brand you perfer? Specific model? etc. I'd really appreciate your advice and suggestions. Thank you!

Although I know the question isn't directed to the forum, I can tell you that I carry a full size 1911 in a Milt Sparks Summer Special 2 routinely and it disappears.  I love this holster and it's in stock at Brownells for your Glock 19.

I'm not really a kydex guy but I know many who are and they swear by Blade-Tech.....also in stock for your Glock.

Lastly, you should take a look at the Blackhawk Serpa as it is also an outstanding holster with an added measure of security as you need to push a button on the side of the holster to release the gun.

Good luck...you won't go wrong with either of these choices.

Never one to pass up an opportunity to promote a product that I have been very happy with, may I recommend a "Silent Thunder" from Tucker Gun Leather.  It is leather lined kydex and it is "tuckable."  I have a couple and really love them.  It might take a little fiddling when you first get it to get the retention tension where you want it but that is kind of a personal preference anyway.

Look at the Galco N3 IWB holster.  It comes out in Aug. It is a little spendy, But it is the one I have been looking for for a long time. I will be purchasing this for my Glock M19 as soon as it hits the market. Good Luck.

In previous episodes of TBD, Mr. Pincus and Mr. Janich were at the range performing shooting drills. Both wore Blackhawk Serpa Holsters.

Currently, for an IWB, I use an El Cheapo for  G26 and I like it. Its a very flimsy looking Galco with suede outside and smooth leather inside. I got i because I was in your position and just needed something now and figured I'd upgrade. But it is one comfortable rig and it draws smoothly. The downside is that there is zero structure to the holster and so holstering is a PITA. I too am in market for "the" holster, but for now I am very happy with the $35  I spent.

Guess I will put my $.02 out there.  I love Milt Sparks..but teh wait is way to long to keep me happy.  I carry my M&P .40c in a Comp-Tac MTAC IWB holster and love it.  From day one it felt great, and after a week of wearing it, it wore the leather in good and holy crap is this awesome.. I cant even tell i am wearing it sometimes... at the 4 oclock position, i can even drive around town without any discomfort... most IWBs sucks once you sit down and buckle in.

I am a huge fan of the Crossbreed Super Tuck Deluxe. Wear the thing anywhere between 8 and 12 hours a day. It's extremely comfortable. Has a large leather section and a molded kydex holster. The leather back keeps the gun from digging into you and if you have to remove it, the kydex makes it very easy to re-holster. It's also a tuckable holster and has the ability to change the height and cant of the firearm.
