I clean my guns after every trip they take out of the house. Might be a bit of OCD on my part but I completely disassemble every possible thing I can, except for parts that are roll-pinned in place, every time I clean them. I love messing with anything mechanical.
Only one I won't tear apart completely, anymore, is my model 94. Twice I have had every last screw, guide ramp, spring, etc. out of that thing laying on the cleaning mat. That's 1 more time then I should have but I got bored one night and figured what the heck, let's do it again. 3 hours later, it was back as one whole piece and I didn't even have left over parts.

My additional accessories for gun cleaning... lots of beer handy, a spit can near by but far enough out of the way so it doesn't get knocked over, and some kind of audio playing. (Downrange podcast and Guntalk podcast are 2 of my favorite things to listen to while cleaning.) Did I mention having beer handy.
