I voted "Every time" and we TRY to do that, but sometimes we can't. Like the last family range trip...took 11 handguns. It took about a week to get them all cleaned.
Most of my stuff is blued or other dark finish, and most are semi's so I'm a "faster" cleaner. Maggie likes the revolvers and has two stainless and a nickel finish and she likes them to look brand new all the time, so those ones take a while.
I got the blues as my companion.

I also voted "every time", although that's not quite true. I put 10 rounds through my SD pistol a couple of weeks ago, but didn't clean it. I also go through the safe about once every six months or so to clean and lube if they haven't been shot recently.

Clean 'em same day they are fired as soon as I get home. Duty / CCW pistols gets Barricaded every two days, slides removed every week and lubed as needed. The exception is rainy days - then the duty pistol gets Barricaded that day.

The price in dollars for damage or possibly the loss of your life isn't worth neglecting a simple thing like a cleaning.
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

Ever cleaned a Ruger Mark I, II or III? :(

Major PITA.

Which is exactly why I don't have a MkIII any more.   :)

How can I vote on this??

If I'm hunting, I always wipe my guns down with my oil soaked cloth before I leave the field..,

But....I've never cleaned my guns. All my life my men have spoiled me rotten and cleaned my guns for me.

And Marshal is no different. He takes care of my cowboy guns.. my rifles, my shotguns and my beloved pistols.

Maybe I should start learning how to clean my own..

***Nahhhhh.... then I would have to do it..and I know how to do way too many things now so I will continue to play innocent and dumb and let him do it. I don't want to take the pleasure away from him you know.*** ::)

I voted for everytime I go shoot, but I also try to clean ALL of my guns every three or four months just to make sure the humidity is not getting to them.

I clean my AK when it starts spewing on me, my handguns after 500 rds or so. I use breakfree CLP no oil or grease, so they stay running.

I clean my guns after every trip they take out of the house. Might be a bit of OCD on my part but I completely disassemble every possible thing I can, except for parts that are roll-pinned in place, every time I clean them. I love messing with anything mechanical.

Only one I won't tear apart completely, anymore, is my model 94. Twice I have had every last screw, guide ramp, spring, etc. out of that thing laying on the cleaning mat. That's 1 more time then I should have but I got bored one night and figured what the heck, let's do it again. 3 hours later, it was back as one whole piece and I didn't even have left over parts. ;D

My additional accessories for gun cleaning... lots of beer handy, a spit can near by but far enough out of the way so it doesn't get knocked over, and some kind of audio playing. (Downrange podcast and Guntalk podcast are 2 of my favorite things to listen to while cleaning.) Did I mention having beer handy. ;)
