This thread makes me want my Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag back even more..... I'll tell ya one hand cannon I'd like to give a try.... One of those Cut Down .45-70 Guide Guns Wild West guns made for a while. I think they called them the Bushwhacker. It was like a Mares leg made out of a guide gun.

Not sure they're cannons but my main guns are an Encore in .308 Win and a Super Redhawk in .480 Ruger. They both did well in a recent trip to the Dark Continent though.

I i wasn't sure so I just went and measured. It's actually a 15" barrel sporting a Burris 2-7x IER Posi-Lock scope.

I shoot allot of .41 and .44 Mag out of my Smiths, have a 14" T/C Contender barrel and would like a 45/70 one.  Just before I deployed in June got to to shoot .454 and .460 S&W out of a Smith, that was real FUN!

CD,

I have never fired any hand gun larger that .44 mag, well other than hot loads from my Redhawk 45 colt.  I have a .454 lever gun and that thing is a THUMPER! It comes with a shotgun style recoil pad!  18inch ported barrel, it is a blast to shoot.  The range usually quiets down for a second when I unleash that first round. ;)

I got to play with one of the smtih 500 proto types,  with a full muzzle brake and being 100 oz empty, it still kicked like a beast.  you really don't want to shoot full power loads more then you have too.  The loads were set up to hunt cape.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.
