PegLeg's fix should work.  Leatherman may fix it but they also may charge you for the fix.

I've got two Gerber Multi-Tools.  One is about 15-18 years old and the other is newer.  Both have worked flawlessly and are warranted for life as are my Victorinox and Kershaw knives.

One of my Gerbers was used by a emergency room physician to remove a treble hook from the back of my head.  It cut through the hook with ease and still has a decent edge on it.  I dressed it a bit afterward but it wasn't really necessary.

The fishhook story is rather comical and was not the first time and probably won't be the last.  I manage to hook myself every ten years of so which coincides with my tetanus vacinations!

My sympathies for your loss as well.  God Bless!

thank you all,
your prayers and well wishes are more than welcome and leave me totally humbled. Especially  Haz. Thank you for the PM. You are a good friend and Cat.

Now on topic, Leatherman has video of someone standing on the handle to cut nails. SOG's knife can cut a bullet. Gerber is Issued to our troops. There must be a better EDC than tin snips or dykes  which could/should serve in the off the norm. situation where I/we need to cut metal wire which easily fits into the cutters which is around  the Diameter of the internal ink tube of a Bic pen.

Subject: Re: leatherman Surge problem

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

The only question i have is: do you have a product that would solve the problem of every day carry which could still cut harden wire which was discribed in my earlier? The wire is about the size of a Bic pen's ink tube if that helps but i think fake flowers are pretty standard.

Thank you

their reply:
XXXXX:

The wire cutters should have cut through the stem on the flake flowers and since it did not there was most likely a defect.

Once it is repaired or replaced it should not do this again.

Teresa

Sounds good to me and you can bet those flowers are the first thing to get re snipped when i get 'em back.
