There is a used XD Tactical in "OD" green at a local pawn shop. I have been thinking about adding it to the family. It comes with three hi-cap mags. It looks box new, but I know the guy who traded it in. He shoots a gun alot then grows tired of it and trades it in. The price is $500. I think it's a good deal one day then the next I am not sure. What do you guys think?

You did not say which caliber.  Overall, $500 is a bit much in my book for a used Tactical.  New ones go for about that, or less depending on where you are locally.

It's a .40, and I think you're right. I looked at a few on the net. 500 would be a bit high for a used one even with the mags.

I was dead set on getting a 4" 45 compact here soon.  Really wanted on for CCW since it would have the shorter grip that would be great for concealing.  Definately want 45 acp as I have boatloads of brass and components in 45.

But I found out recently that Springfield does not sell parts to individuals.  Therefore if something goes wrong I would have to send it to Springfield or find a gunsmith who repairs them (not any in my area as far as I can figure).

My other thought is now about the M & P 45.  However, it is not a compact.  I really would like the shorter grip to CC in Crossbreed supertuck!  Does anybody know if S & W will soon offer the M & P in compact version?

I haven't ruled out the XD, just tossing a few thoughts through the ole noggin! ???  I insight here would be pleasantly recieved.

Cookie 62: thanks for the info on the XD magazines; I just ordered mine.  I've got the 4" XD in .45 and it's really a honey to shoot.  My pistol has had nothing but my reloads thru it; seemes to prefer federal primers though.  Is a striker-type pistol hitting primers lighter than say a Kimber with firing pin? I don't know if the gun would function reliably with normal purchased ammo or, is there an adjustment that can be made to enable harder hits?  I won this gun without knowing anything about them; very pleasant surprise but now I have a few questions.  Thanks again for the info on the magazines though.

I bought a 9mmXD Sub compact with the green frame a little over a year ago for a ccw. The other 9mm is a Ruger 95DC that I've had for a few years.  I bought the Ruger so my wife could learn to shoot as she didnt like my 45's.   The day I brought the XD into the house, my wife held it for 10 seconds and then claimed it as hers. We both love the XD.  This was a switch for me though. I've mostly owned 45's. Now I'm looking at getting the 45 XD next
