Burger King.  Because my wife made me go...

Shoot, I 'bout can't afford BK any more. About six months ago I got a hankerin' for a Whopper meal (the junior just ain't the same flavor for some reason....jackass meat vs horse, I reckon)....anyway, the wife and I were in town so I whipped into the closest BK and ordered two Whopper combos with medium drinks..... $25!!!! Jeez-Louise, man. We could've added $5 to it and ate a table-meal at our favorite Mexican joint....sheesh.
Needles to say, we haven't graced BK with our presence again.

We picked the middle granddaughter up from dance class yesterday evening and she wanted chicken from Zaxby's. She got the 4-piece and the wife and I each got a 3-piece and for all three meals was $30. Better quality food and more than BK any day.

I didn't know Burger King was getting that expensive. About a week ago I had a Smokehouse Bacon Jam Burger, with 2 Angus beef patties, pepper bacon jam, bacon, Gouda, and onion straws on a brioche bun. I ordered a pumpkin shake to go with it, then decided to get some Freakin' Fries too, and comboed my meal. Normally you can Add Fries and a 22 oz. Soft Drink for $4.89, but the shake was $2.00 more than a fountain drink. I got Alabama White Sauce and Boom Boom Sauce for my fries, but only used the Alabama White Sauce, and saved the Boom Boom Sauce to dip chicken in the next day. I think I paid 65 cents for an extra cup of sauce.

If I'm not mistaken, that should be over $20 including both sauces and the 6% state tax, but I used a $5 reward and got a $6.99(?) credit for my birthday burger, my birthday being last month. So I think it should have been around $10, but I just checked my credit card and I only paid $5.50 for all of it. I think they gave me the burger for free and didn't charge the right amount for something else. It was really good anyway. A lot better than Burger King, which is more like dog food, and always makes me burp. I think you get 1 point for each dollar you spend, then get $5 off when you have $75 points.

Shit, if I'm dropping nine bucks or more for a burger I'm going to at least Five Guys (buy one burger get one free if you order through their app, Nov 7 only!) or to Red Robin for a Banzai. (Teriyaki sauce and pineapple.)

I went to Red Robin and had a burger once. I don't remember what I had, maybe an A1 steakhouse burger. I just checked their prices online and a Red's Double, the cheapest burger they make, is $11.99 and it looks like the beef patties are thin. A Freakin’ Burger with cheese and two Angus beef patties is $8.49. That's $3.50 cheaper, and probably why I never went back to Red Robin. Most of Red Robin's gourmet burgers are about $15-$18 apiece, and Freakin' Unbelievable Burgers gourmet burgers are $9.49, except the All Day Brunch Burger with a fried egg on it, which is a dollar more. A Royal Red Robin with an egg on it is $16.49, 6 bucks more, plus tax. I rarely get a gourmet burger because they cost so much, but I can still get 3 of them at Freakin' Unbelievable Burgers cheaper than 2 gourmet burgers at Red Robin.

P.S. Every once in awhile they come up with one of these special burgers that aren't on the menu, and they cost more. That's why this one was $9.99 instead of $8.49. They were only $6.99 before Stumblin' Joe was elected and the economy went down the crapper.

Sadly, there's no Freakin' Unbelievable in Seatthell, and very few mom-n-pops or even small-chains left. Welcome to an actively small-business-hating Blue Hell...

There's a Freakin' Burgers in Flint and one in Grand Blanc. There was a franchise in another state, maybe Kentucky, but it's gone now. They were going to raise their prices because they're having a hard time making any money, but their employees asked them not to. It's better to make a little money with a few customers, than go out of business because no one can afford to eat there. It's the only fast food place around here I know of where you can get margaritas, daiquiris, and craft beers with your burger. And they make their own frozen custard for desserts and shakes.

Peas porridge hot! I just took a bowl of split pea and ham soup out of the microwave and put the hot sauce to it. Extra hot, with salt and pepper potato chips on the side.

Leftover steak fajitas for lunch and Vienna sausage on whole wheat with mayo sandwich for supper with corn chips....good and healthy. ;D

Tomorrow we'll be doing hamburger steak w/gravy and onions with mashed taters and green beans for about sixty folks.

I didn't get to eat any (except the scraps that I carved off) but I did have to help make it for a wedding......
Armadillo cake 2.0....

I think our combos came up to around $21-$22.  Yes it is expensive and I prefer the local burger joints...but as I said...my wife opined for the BK.

I rarely get cravings for Burger King, but it's only a few blocks away and it doesn't get much more convenient than that.

I had a big bowl of sliced pears. My friends bought a big #10 can (105 ounces) of them and got tired of taking them up north and back and no one eating them. They seem to have picked up a metallic taste from being in the can to many years but I don't care. I dumped a jar full of cocktail cherries and syrup into it yesterday and they taste great. I'm having another bowl full.
