Well, I guess I'm gonna have to get the razor out........... Amy's hair has started to slowly let go. She went yesterday and got it cut relatively short, at least by her standard (shortest I ever seen it in 12 years). The nurse said it could actually be painful as it starts to turn loose, and that sometimes cutting it ahead of it falling out (preemptive strike ?) can alleviate the discomfort. She says when it really starts coming out, she's just gonna shave it off and be done with it.
So, I said I'd skin mine down too, but can't get much shorter on the sides and back than it is now....and there's only about an inch on top.....but it'll be gone......don't know about the beard, though.....might be too much to take all at once.
Might post pics, but y'all might not be able to handle it.....even if the camera can get past the glare.
Otherwise, things basically are going OK, Amy feels pretty good right now, but we hit a minor bump in the treatment cycle this week. We went for treatment #2 Thursday morning and after they got her all hooked up and pulled a blood sample, the test showed her white blood cell count was way down to around 700. They can't give her the chemo unless it is 1500 or higher.
Last week it was 2200, so that shows the type of effect the chemo has on the system.
They can give her a shot called 'Nu-Lasta' (sp ?) but it has to be given the day after chemo. It is to help build up the white blood count or keep it from going so low the next time.
When it gets that low, they told her not to be out and about very much in public areas and to watch who she came into contact with.
So....we will wait until next Thursday to let her blood build back on its own so she can take the chemo first and then get the nu-lasta shot and then it should be back on schedule.
As always, thanks for the multitude of prayers and good wishes.
