Have you had any experience with cutting harden wire. Also any hard use stories/experience would be good along with produt link/number.

Cutting Harden Wire......yep, I think I did get into a knife fight with him once....  :D

If you've ever seen a florist's shop, you'll see that they use pretty stout wire cutters when working with florist wire. It's almost as stout as fencing wire. That said, I'm surprised that the OP's Leatherman was damaged that severely....dulling and minor deformation would have been understandable....

I got a reply from SOG:
Dear XXXXX,
You may want to consider getting yourself a PowerLock or a PowerAssist
as a replacement for your broken Leatherman.
Our plier heads all come with hard wire cutters built in, and in the
unlikely event that a pair of SOG pliers were to break during use we
cover all manufacturer's defects under a lifetime warranty - so we would
be more than happy to repair any problem that you may experience.

Below are a few of my recommendations for PowerLock and PowerAssist
models that you may find useful:

http://sogknives.com/store/S62.html
http://sogknives.com/store/S66.html

If you're looking for something smaller then perhaps you may prefer the
Pocket PowerPlier or the Paratool as well:

http://sogknives.com/store/S31.html

If you have additional questions about our multi-tools or our lifetime
warranty please let me know!

I am very impressed with the way they use the gears to increase grip

I've only handled the SOG multi-tool and not used one practically.

I did like how they were put together. The gear system is very smooth, I liked how it felt.

I've never been a big fan of the multi-tools but if I were to get one it would probably be SOG.

I have been pleased with the leather man, right until the failing to cut and antigun info that is.

SOG looks like a good alternative and I absolutily love my X-ray Vision. The arch lock is amazingly strong. Also strong side pocket carry is very easy to deploy into action with the offside hand while in tip up carry.  That is probably another thread though.

I have carried the Gerber Compact Sport 400 (Model#22-05509) for six or seven years now and love the thing. Once you go one hand open you will never go back.

But, I have had to dress the wire cutters a couple of times after having cut some harder wire.

I also carry it lose in my pocket and found that I needed to knock the sharp edges off the needle nose. I kept putting holes in my jeans until I softened the edges.
