Thanks for the input.  Think I'll pick up a few of the Springfield magazines.

Yesterday I was hit with the irony of selling my Beretta 92 and buying a 1911.  Guess I'm going backwards, huh?

No,no and hell no! Maybe its just me, because guns are personal things. But, if I were given my choiceof which one to carry into combat between the 1911, the Glock and the Beretta; the Beretta would be a very distant third. IMHO, the Army should have either stuck with the 1911 or gone Glock, prefferably the latter, but either way a better pistol.YMMV.

Now Tom...they are southerners, ice & snow confuse them. Guy here at work was down over there the weekend for the Packers/Falcons game and he said watching them attempt to manuver through their side streets(most of the main drags were pretty good) was almost as much fun as watching the game. As far as he was concerned the only difficulty he had while driving was avoiding the locals who were "slip, sliding away".

It was kind of a joke.  That being said, there was nothing at all wrong with the Beretta.  It was extremely accurate and absolutely 100% reliable for me.  I would not hesitate to use it to defend my family.  But as you said, it's a personal thing and I just wasn't in love with it.  In other words, it was time for a change.

Like I posted, I had every intention of going into the store and coming out with a G19, but the Springfield sang to me and I LIKED THE SONG!

Someday I'll get to shoot it.

Congrats on your Springer, Loaded model it looks like. Have a couple myself. I use McCormack mags (8 and 10 rounders) and have for years. I find them to be reliable and durable.

Yes, it's a loaded model (9109 or something like that).  I must confess that I stopped at a range today in Ohio and rented a G26.  I'll be getting a Glock one of these days.  The place I stopped at was pretty cool.  They have a 100 yard indoor rifle range!

Nice purchase. I have looked at these a few time along with the Para Ordinance and STI.

Finally stole a few minutes today to try out my new toy.

I'm digging how accurate it is.  The trigger pull seems pretty heavy.  There is an adjustment screw in the trigger, but I'm not sure what that adjusts.  Overtravel?  Couldn't find even a mention of it in the instructions.

I had 1 failure to feed on the second magazine, which kind of surprised me.  I've never had one on any centerfire handgun I've owned that wasn't made by Bersa >:(.  Not that I've owned a lot of them.

I had 2 other minor issues with it that are probably my fault.  I noticed on the one that the magazine hanging down a little low.  Either I didn't seat it fully, or I accidentally hit the eject with my big, fat fingers.  Come to think of it, that could be the cause of the failure to feed?

All-in-all, I really enjoyed it.  The recoil didn't seem to be any more that the Beretta 92.  I can't really say much more, since I've only put 50 rounds through it, but I'm liking it so far!

My first 7 shots:

A decent 5 shot group, for me anyway  :):

All shots were from 10 yards, off-hand, and it was cold!

The adjustment screw in the trigger is for overtravel.

Make a mark on one of the mags with a sharpie to differentiate between them and shoot a bunch through it again. If you get a FTF again, note the magazine. Most FTF and tip-up malfunctions are magazine related. Some do come from the way you are holding the gun (limp-wristing can make one jam if you are not familiar with shooting 1911's).

Hitting the magazine release while firing would also cause a FTF. Double check your grip and make sure you are not contacting the button. I had that problem with a Colt .380 1911 (scaled down version) so I had to eventually out a stiffer spring and cut down the height of the button itself.

Most new, regular production run (non-custom) 1911's need to be 'shot in' for a few boxes of ammo to settle the parts down a bit.

Great looking gun.....I think it'll be OK once you get it broke in and get used to it...Congrats again.
